[Webinar] Can decentralised solutions empower India’s energy transition?

In India’s hinterlands and small and growing cities, companies and institutions are developing and customising decentralised renewable energy solutions to tackle everyday problems.

Mongabay-India’s ninth Clean Energy Talks webinar explored the role of decentralised energy in India’s energy transition journey and how it is shaping India’s rural economy.

The panellists included Sharanabasappa Patil, Farmer and Innovator, Karnataka; Harsha Meenawat, Senior Program Manager, Energy Program, WRI India; Ravindra Anandrao Mane, Sarpanch, Manyachiwadi-Solar village, Maharashtra and Janak Palta McGilligan, Director, Jimmy McGilligan Centre For Sustainable Development. The webinar was moderated by Manish Mishra, Content Co-ordinator, Mongabay-Hindi and Manish Kumar, Staff Writer, Mongabay-India.

The panellists shared their individual and on-ground experiences with decentralised energy solutions in India.

In India, public sector units, private firms and non-profit organisations are also relying on renewable energy to increase power penetration, improve local livelihood opportunities, and facilitate women-led projects in states such as Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand.
