Articles by Ajay Bijoor
Ajay has been leading conservation efforts in the high altitude regions of Ladakh and Spiti valley in India. He has helped in setting up, running and monitoring community-conservation programmes in these regions. This work covers over 30 villages and engages over 1000 households by trying to create conditions that make it conducive for local communities to support conservation. He also works closely with local government agencies by supporting them in developing landscape-level management plans, and building capacity in wildlife monitoring and participatory conservation work. More recently, Ajay has also been facilitating a process to build capacity for community-based conservation among practitioners in the 12 snow leopard range countries, which is one of the key resolutions under the Global Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Protection Program.
