Shikha Salaria
Shikha Salaria is a senior journalist with over 11 years of experience of covering environment, gender, politics, caste dynamics and caste-based atrocities, health and corruption in the 'Hindi heartland' region of India which comprises the poorest states of the vast country. Based in the national capital region, she has worked from six Indian states of north India and has spent most of her time covering the state of Uttar Pradesh and the national capital region. She takes keen interest in the subjects of environment, pollution, declining water table and river pollution. She received the Earth Journalism Fellowship in 2025 and her writings have helped impact the lives of many of the subjects of her stories. She received a commendation from the Chief Election Commissioner of India for her stories on the impact of the COVID pandemic on children. She has covered two general elections and five assembly elections across different states of India. During the 2024 general election, she traveled across Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state of India and delivered several exclusive interviews and ground reports.
