Namrata Acharya is an independent journalist based in Kolkata, India. Previously she worked as an assistant editor with Business Standard newspaper. She writes on issues related to economy, finance, public policy and environment. In 2019, her reporting on the Sundarbans won the C R Irani Award for Environment Reporting and was shortlisted for the Kurt Schork Memorial Fund award. She was one of the ten journalists chosen globally for the World Press Institute fellowship, USA, in 2011. She was also a recipient of the Media Ambassador India-Germany fellowship by the Robert Bosch Foundation in 2017.
